Trail

Trail is a device that improves communication between firefighters and officers in a structural fire scenario. It does this by boosting the signal of firefighters 1-watt radios, while also improving the firefighters environment understanding. Multiple Trail devices would be dropped along the path of the firefighter as they navigate the building, Trail would record zonal temperature around the device and would signal to officers on a tablet, if there was a spike in temperature in the building. Firefighters radios are limited to 1-watt due to rising gases within a fire and the possibility of an explosion if the wattage was higher. This ultimately creates a breakdown in communication between officers outside the building and the firefighter team inside the building due to the low signal output of the radio and the signals ability to penetrate through the buildings structure. Trail receives the 1-watt radio signal, it then increases the current and outputs the signal at a higher wattage. The signal is transponded to a receiving radio or the next Trail device.
