Wandesford Quay Wellness Centre

This final year Interior Architecture design project explores the re-purposing of an old malting house into a wellness centre for Cork City. The Wandesford Quay Building was a malting house located on one of Cork Cities Primary Quays. The 1840 malting house served the local Beamish and Crawford brewery house. The design proposal for Wandesford Quay is to re-purpose the building into a Multidisciplinary Wellness Centre, which aims to provide a home for wellness in the heart of Cork and promote a sense of healing. This idea came from the tragic history of the area as there was a female orphanage to the rear of the site. The Centre focuses on four aspects of wellness; social, physical, educational, and mental. Social = Public Café Kiosk and gardens Physical = Yoga/pilates/exercise studio Educational = Workshop event space Mental = Thermal baths, meditation room, treatment rooms
