The Ritual Project

Questioning tradition and experimenting with the patterns of everyday life, The Ritual Project is a series of works based around the question: “Why do we, as humans, perform rituals?” Through research in fields such as anthropology, theology and sociology, brought to life in both digital and printed forms, this series of works are all linked by one overhanging theme with a contemporary twist. Despite the change evolution brings, ritual has stayed rooted in human nature since it’s origin, all the way to this present day. This project questions and dissects the concept of ritual in relation to our society, finds the reasonings behind our affiliation and finally redesigns these findings in a contemporary and modernising form. Emily Peat is a graphic designer based in Dublin, Ireland. She works between running No Bad News Studio and freelancing various projects, ranging from poster design to motion graphics and image making for the music industry.
